Higher Education Staff Development

We have several years of experience within the Higher Education Sector, having worked alongside UCLAN since 2003. We have rapidly expanded in this sector to include the Royal Northern College of Music, York, St John University, Riverside College, Manchester Metropolitan University and Bolton University.

Stratus’ increased involvement and contribution to this sector has enabled our trainers to possess a greater understanding of the particular pressures inherent in education, especially around the occasionally volatile mix between academic and support staff!

Our latest programmes for colleges and universities are Business Writing and Reflective Learning Techniques.

We do offer Presentation Skills (for academics and senior staff as well as staff with more basic needs – we have recently been delivering some 1:1 coaching for a Senior Manager within South Trafford College).

Our updated Networking Skills workshop has also proved a success in your sector as faculties have to be prepared to sell their expertise, resources and services to others to increase revenue.

These days customers tend to be more discerning and exacting and are much more willing to complain if they do not receive the level of service expected. Our Customer Care & Assertiveness workshop proved very useful to the Royal Northern College of Music last year – because everyone has customers, not only students but in RNCM’s case – visitors to their concert hall. Not only do the staff need to know how to provide excellent customer care standards, they need to be politely assertive with today’s more demanding and assertive customer.

Chairing Meetings and Meetings, Minutes and Agendas are not new – but increasingly in demand, indeed our most frequently requested workshops in Education. We do work within any currently active Meetings Handbooks you may have and include much needed advice on the Data Protection Act.
