Principal Consultant - Sonya O’Sullivan

Sonya specialises in Presentation and Communication Skills. She holds a C&G Adult Education Teaching Certificate that qualifies her to train within Further Education. In 1997, she was instrumental in setting up the NVQ Cabin Crew programme at South Trafford College and has also lectured in other areas within their Travel & Tourism department. She is a candidate of the Professional Speaker’s Association, undertaking public speaking programmes for women’s business groups.

Sonya has produced and run multi-cultural courses throughout Europe, delivering to delegates speaking business English. She is also an accredited ‘SDI’ (Strength Deployment Inventory) facilitator helping organisations to look at leadership, teamwork and individual communication styles. Her aviation, banking and retail background make her an ideal facilitator of Interpersonal and Soft Skills. She has delivered to a variety of delegates from senior managers to front line staff.

Sonya uses her hands-on experience of training delivery to help organisations in the design and implementation of customised training solutions for both public and private sectors. She encourages people to communicate more effectively at all levels by listening to what her clients need, to discover flexible and innovative solutions that match their expectations. Her facilitation skills reflect reality using a gently humorous and common sense approach with plenty of opportunity for discussion, interaction and accelerated learning experiences.

 
Your First Point of Contact

As our Business Development Manager, Valerie will often be your first point of contact with Stratus as she connects clients with us. She also promotes and raises awareness of our training programmes amongst new and established clientele. She is not simply about “flogging workshops” rather she will listen carefully to your staff development needs to establish if and how Stratus can help you improve your business through your people.

Val has developed her business skills working within a variety of customer care, sales, marketing, media, and managerial roles. She specialises in telephone and written communications and has delivered corporate training in both skills.

She is a Member of the Institute of Copywriters and a Member of the Society of Virtual Assistants. She is also a registered Assistant Invigilator for professional examination candidates.

 

The Associates

Stratus Associates uses a small, hand-picked team of trainers and consultants to deliver their special subjects which range from Project Management and Dealing with Difficult People to Report Writing and Networking.

All our consultants have had many years experience in the training and consultancy industry and their individual talents and personal styles mean that you get the right person for your needs and not a Jack or Jill of all trades!

     

Colin Dunk

Colin specialises in Leadership and Management Development. He is also passionate about teaching Written Business Communication and Chairing and Participating in Meetings.

He holds a B.Soc.Sci (Hons) Degree from the University of Birmingham, has Qualified Teacher status and is a Member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel and Development (CIPD). He was a teacher before spending fifteen years in Hong Kong as a Training Manager for Cathay Pacific Airways.
Colin’s experience of living and managing in different countries has given him first hand experience of building teams in multi-cultural environments. He has conducted training and development courses to all levels from executives to front-line staff.

 

Claire Margerison (CMCIPD)

Claire specialises in HR and Performance Management. She delivers workshops on stress management, working time directive, absence management and appraisals.

She has experience both with blue chip organisations such as British Aerospace and also in the public sector for Lancs County Council.
She has been involved with career workshops, a high profile recruitment campaign, competency framework, appraisals, Investors in People (IiP), training needs analysis and management restructuring programmes.
She holds both OPQ (Occupational Profiling Questionnaires) and OT (Occupational Training) certificates with SHL, and a Business and Finance Degree.

 
Steve Rouse

Steve specialises in diversity & equal opportunities, leadership, management development and learning design.

Previously working as Senior Designer within the Department of Work and Pensions’ corporate Learning & Development division, Steve has considerable expertise in the design of learning solutions that use a blend of approaches to empower people to take responsibility for their own development.

He has a thorough understanding of leading-edge learning design such as computer-based, video, audio, e-learning, professional development route-ways and web-based learning portals in addition to more informal learning approaches, such as action learning.
Steve holds an MA in Management Learning & Leadership from Lancaster University and is also a Licentiate Fellow of ITOL, CIPD associate member and an accredited MBTI practitioner.

 

Candy Gerrard

Candy specialises in workshops to raise your or your organisations profile, such as Tele-sales and Sales, Networking and Customer Care.

She is a highly motivated training consultant who possesses an energetic and enthusiastic training style encouraging people to achieve their maximum potential. She started her training career with the Handley–Walker Group management consultancy where she was involved in the design and implementation of highly successful Customer Care programmes for clients such as Renault, Magnet, Esso Petroleum and the Department of Health. Candy is an accredited SDI facilitator helping people to understand their own motivation and that of others.

 
Cheryl Walsh (Cert. Ed., Dip. Ed. Msc., AIFI)

Cheryl specialises in Target Setting, Job Coaching and Measuring Impact. She delivers workshops on Citizenship and Community Cohesion which focuses on developing people to become social, moral and responsible citizens within the local community or workplace. This has resulted in delivering practical based interactive Equality & Diversity workshops.

She has 14 years experience in the Further Education Sector including teaching, management and Quality Assurance. She is an Associate Trainer for the Learning & Skills Network and has experience in project management and staff development. She also has a keen passion for improving standards.

She holds an MSc and Diploma in Management, various teaching qualifications and is a member of the Institute for Learning.

 

Gerry Lynch

Gerry specialises in something that many trainers shy away from - teaching people how to give bad news and deal with difficult situations!

He is a highly enthusiastic management trainer with a background in Human Resources in manufacturing and retail sectors with British and American multi-nationals. He has a degree in Business Administration and is a Certified Business Practitioner in NLP. He aims to help managers make their organisations more successful by giving them the tools and techniques to lead and inspire their people. Gerry’s style is highly participative and he uses a blend of humour and realism to make training events both enjoyable and practical for delegates. He also delivers Competency Based Interviewing and Coaching.

 

Sheridan Webb

Sheridan specialises in training design, although she has over 14 years of delivering training, and is both a qualified coach and NLP business practitioner too!

She is passionate about giving people the tools and skills they need to job their jobs to the best of their ability, and takes a practical approach to every situation, having the philosophy “if it works, let’s use it”.

Sheridan has designed many flexible induction programmes, competence models and performance management toolkits for retail, building, manufacturing and financial industries. To compliment this, she delivers train the trainer, coaching, supervisory/first line management skills, and performance management training. Another passion of hers is customer service and she relishes helping businesses implement small changes that will make big differences in this area.
